A trip to Tofino

No true adventurist is without a weekend camping trip to Tofino, BC, on Vancouver Island.

Tofino, BC, is a scenic town on Vancouver Island’s rugged west coast, famous for its surfing, ancient rainforests, beaches (like Chesterman, Cox Bay, Long Beach), and its location within the Clayoquot Sound UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, offering a blend of outdoor adventure, First Nations culture, wildlife (whales!), and a relaxed, nature-focused lifestyle. Visitors enjoy year-round activities like storm watching, hiking, kayaking, and indulging in fresh seafood, with easy access via road, air, or sea plane from other parts of Vancouver Island.

At the time of this visit the campground was newly opened and still had a bit of growth ahead.

we enjoyed our stay, albeit a short one of maybe 3 days. The weather was typical of the west coast with some rain and damp air.

As luck would have it, we had the opportunity to take in a surfing competition.
